I Think Jesus Would Cuss to Piss Off Religious People

I Think Jesus Would Cuss to Piss Off Religious People

We need to stop holding certain values as “Christian” values that simply aren’t. I’m a Jesus Follower for sure, but I’m not even sure I want to be associated with the word “Christian” anymore. We need to understand the difference between Christian and culture — especially the American, conservative culture. We simply need to understand the difference between Christian and conservative. Maybe we should all just adopt the term “Jesus Follower” and try to live like Jesus, not merely conservatively.

My premise here is that I think if Jesus came today, instead of 2,000 years ago, He would’ve had a bone to pick with religious leaders, as he did when He came. Therefore, I think He would cuss to show religious people how often they’re “majoring on the minors.” I don’t think cussing is the only example, but it’s a prominent one in today’s society.

The Ultimate Conspiracy Theory: One I Actually Believe

The Ultimate Conspiracy Theory: One I Actually Believe

I’ve always been interested in conspiracy theories.

Whether it’s, “we never landed on the moon,” or “9/11 was an inside job,” or “the flat earth society,” you have to admit it’s at least interesting.

I’ve always liked when people went against what “we” consider normal.

And we shouldn’t dismiss someone as crazy because they think differently.

Sure, many of the theories, if not most, are crazy.

But that’s exactly my point. We like to immediately label them as crazy.

That immediately stops our own critical thinking.

So, let me share something I’ve shared with a lot of people. When I say this, I’m being only slightly facetious.

God IS Great: How Religion Poisons Everything

God IS Great: How Religion Poisons Everything

I just finished Christopher Hitchens’s book, God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything, and while I actually agree with much of it, we came to two completely different conclusions.

First, I want to distinguish the difference between God and religion. God is great. Religion is poison. God calls us to come to Him, through Jesus. Religion causes people to do insane things, including things like the Crusades, mass murder, manipulation, and events such as the People’s Temple leading and forcing people to literally “drink the Kool-Aid,” resulting in the single greatest loss of American civilian life in a deliberate act, prior to the September 11 terrorist attacks.

The Case for Christian Heavy Metal Music

christian music metal heavy

Do a quick search for “Christian heavy metal music” and you will find plenty of people who oppose the genre, including this guy who doesn’t seem to listen to anyone who replies to his post.

What are the main reasons people oppose heavy Christian music? They bring up the origin of heavy metal being rooted in Satanism, which isn’t really the case.

Sure, many of the early metal bands like Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin were out for a shock effect. They liked the idea of scaring people, but a lot of that came from the massive amount of judgement they got from the masses (mostly Christians) in the first place, because they were different and their music was different.

That’s largely the same today. Dress in all black for a few weeks and see how many people react. It’s obvious that you’re depressed and flirting with Satanism if you dress in all black. There’s not a chance that you simply like the color scheme, right? That’s what many believe.

As Christians, we’re often too quick to find fault in things that can be a pathway to Jesus for many.

You Can’t Hate Tattoos and Eat Medium-Rare Steaks

tattoos

There are 613 laws in the Old Testament.

As Christians, we don’t follow most of them, other than the ones that are truly sin, today.

There are many ceremonial laws, and laws that blatantly applied to the Jews in the Old testament, but make no sense for us to follow today.

But let’s talk about tattoos.
